Nordic Rheology Conference 2007

The 16th Nordic Rheology Conference took place from Wednesday 13th till Friday 15th of June 2007. The conference was held at Statoil’s head office in Stavanger, while the rheology course and reception was arranged at the University of Stavanger on the 13th of June.

Scope and Theme for NRC 2007

The special theme for the conference was “Emulsions and suspensions” with contributions from people working with food, polymers, drilling fluids, cement, pharmaceuticals, paint, pulp etc.  

Invited speakers  

The invited speakers for NRC 2007 was a great mix of highly respected contributors within the field of rheology.

  • Prof. Gareth H. McKinley is the area head of the Mechanical Engineering department and director of the Program in Polymer Science & Technology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is further the executive editor of Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics
     

  • Dr. Ahmadi Tehrani, a senior technical advisor at MI Swaco, has been working with rheology within the petroleum industry for decades.
     

  • Dr. Richard Jachnik has long-life experience working with rheology for drilling fluids and has been an active and valuable contributor to the NRS for several years.

Conference programme  

A mixture of parallel and plenary sessions was be held at Statoil conference facilities in the Forus area.

Rheology Course  

On Wednesday the 13th, a rheology course was held at the University of Stavanger. Copies of the presentations are found below:
