Helsinki, Finland 7-9 June

Nordic Rheology Conference 2000

the 9th Nordic Rheology Conference

The special session of the Conference was: The rheology of polymers.

Plenary lectures were given by:

  • Professor Helmut Münstedt, Institute of Polymer Materials, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany
  • Professor Siegfried Hess, Technical University of Berlin (Computer simulations on polymer rheology and shear induced structural changes)

Prior to the conference, a course on polymer rheology was arranged on June 5-7.

The lecturers and their topics were:

Dr. Søren Hvidt, University of Roskilde:

  • General introduction to rheology
  • Relaxation spectra and rheology
  • Gels and gel points
  • Cox-Merz rule
  • Micelles and gels of amphiphiles
  • Networks in biological systems

Professor Siegfried Hess, Technical University of Berlin:

  • Rheology and structure of complex fluids. Measurements and phenomenological description, basic theoretical concepts and non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) computer simulations for polymeric fluids, magneto-rheological fluids and liquid crystals.

Professor Helmut Münstedt, Institute of Polymer Materials, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg
