Nordic Rheology Conference 2012

The 21st Nordic Rheology Conference will be held in Oslo on June 13-15, 2012. The local organiser is The Norwegian University of Life Sciences.

Oslo is the capital and largest city in Norway with a population of more than 605 000. The city is in the southern part of Norway, some 400 kilometers west of Stockholm, Sweden, and 500 kilometers north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Oslo is well connected to major cities in Europe by air and can also be reached by daily ferries to Copenhagen, Frederikshavn and Kiel.

The cultural and tourist activities in Oslo during the summer period are abundant. For more information about these and Oslo in general please visit the city’s official pages and see the map for the location of the conference.

Scope and theme

The special focus for NRC2012 is "Rheology for industrial processes”, with a main theme of “Rheology of food and emulsions". The conference, as usual, covers all aspects and areas of rheology. All kinds of papers are welcome, especially e.g. industrial case studies. The aim is a large gathering of people interested in the scientific, technical, and application development within the field of rheology.

Invited speakers

The program will include several distinguished invited speakers and we have already the pleasure to present the first one.

Críspulo Gallegos from University of Huelva in Spain, is mainly focused on microstructured product engineering, which deals with the relationship between microstructure, rheology and processing of complex fluids. He has applied his research in close cooperation with industry and is presently on leave from his university to act as Vice-president of Fresenius Kabi to head of the I&D Centre “Complex Formulations”. Críspulo is also the president of the ESR.

Call for papers

Presentations in all areas of rheology are welcome, both as posters and oral presentations. Presenters should send a one-page abstract to the NRS editor Anni Karppinen by March 15, 2012. A print ready manuscript should be prepared using the transaction template and sent to Mia in pdf-form by April 15. Further instructions are found in the transaction template.
